His value has skyrocketed, but he very likely walks for a contender in the off-season. Right now, they are 2 points out of the second wild card with 3 games in hand on Dallas. They also have 6/7 games in hand on Vegas, Anaheim, and LA, so they could definitely be one of the top 3 in the Pacific. But if they don’t win those games in hand, they won’t make the playoffs. I would say if the Flames go on another cold streak before the deadline, sell JG, but if they are only a point or two out of a playoff spot, at the deadline, keep him. As it stands, unless they get a divisional seed, they should get ready to face Colorado in the first round. Calgary won’t have at chance at beating Colorado without JG, and JG most likely walking for a true contender in the off season, I would personally say sell.
This is a package I would propose for JG:
Carolina: JG (30% retained)
Calgary: 2023 first rounder, 2024 2nd rounder, Ryan Suzuki, Dominik Bokk
Calgary gets a first rounder in a deep draft, a 2nd rounder in another deep draft, and 2 former first round selections.
Would this package get JG?
