Description
Considering the team's name, this might be what the Hawks would have looked like for 2017-18. Compliance buyout used on Hossa instead of Montador who would have been properly LTIRed. Seabrook traded to Dallas instead of Sharp and Johns. Whoever came back would not have been retained. Last year's trade with the Habs doesn't happen. Neither does the previous off season deal with the Jackets. Kruger is drafted by Vegas this off season. Kane and Toews are signed for more appropriate cap hits. While the 2015 Cup may not have been, this team would be a lot better set up for the future as compared to the mismanaged, aging crew we will see for quite sometime.

Graderman, I truly do think you know your stuff. AND yes you said foresight not hindsight.

For this team...I'D RATHER HAVE THE 2015 CUP!!! I'm not saying the Hawks aren't in a poor spot moving forward, but we're spoiled to have 3 within a decade. Lots of teams have none...ever... Yes, there are currently a lot of high salaries on this team with NTC/NMC. But, man watching this team has been sooo much fun and refreshing. Blackhawk hockey was bad for a very long time. And not even on TV! Even in their loses, it's (3rd party) fun hockey to watch. 2011 down 0-3 yet still forcing a Game 7 and literally a Luongo sleeve away from winning it too! It didn't even hit his arm. Just the jersey material. 2014 against the Kings in the WCF game 7 forced into OT!!! I'm excited for game 4. It's not over until it over.

exo2769, I hear ya, bro!!! Honestly, I think StanBo gambled/spectulated that the Cap would be much higher since he inked THE contracts after the 2014 season, which Incidently also ended on a bad luck deflection off of the since departed Leddy. Bowman was incredibly fortunate that Kaner got injured before the TDL in 2015. I do not think that team would have won without Vermette and Co, to be honest. But we'll take it!!! Trades are very hard to pull off, especially for Bowman because everyone knows he HAS to make trades in order to simply ice a cap compliant team the following season. Most of the time he comes on the short end. Fortunately, the Hawks have good scouting to find the Panarin's and then are creative enough to outbid others for those services some of the time. Yes, after 49 years of drought, us Hawks fans will take these 3 most recent Cups. I just wish it could continue...

Bickell is retired; he'll be watching hockey on TV like us.. Teravainen is serviceable and may have been a nice option as a bottom six RWer for this lineup.
