READ THIS:

So, this trade is occurring in the event that Leddy continues to be out with injury and/or Eichel has to come back before the playoffs. Yzerman likely wants to get something for Leddy at the deadline, but him being injured puts a wrench in those plans. What's a way to make an injured player an asset? LTIR. Send Leddy to the Knights at half retention and take on some cap in return. Let's say... Michigan boy and solid veteran Alec Martinez, who'll be coming back into game action fairly soon. Detroit gets a veteran defenseman to hold down the left side until the kids come up, and Vegas gets a replacement for him at about half the price that could potentially stay buried until the playoffs come around. I'm making this a one-for-one just for simplicity, but either side could order a small addition to make it even out. Any thoughts? Would this make sense for either team, under the current circumstances?

Dude, this is akin to a reacharound. Why would Stevie Wonder do such a grand favor to Vegas? Why would anyone? Maybe he should just cut out his liver and hand that over, too.

Vegas could add. This also helps Detroit cover up the biggest hole on their team, the LHD department.

Detroit is in no hurry to grab a veteran LD. And they have no less than SIX LDs among their top dozen or so prospects. Besides, Vegas would need to add a ton to make this something Stevie Y does. He's no dummy.
