Been doing well! I’ve been off the site for a while but decided to use it to follow free agency, so I’ll probably be posting more when the preseason starts but until then I’m on hiatus. Just started my second year of college, so it’s back on the grind for me lol. How about you?

what the frk?! big fan of this guy, hope he gets a chance with the big team (especially after that monster AHL season)

yay... more gritty depth....
honestly though, solid deal, I guess we'll see where he ends up playing at the start of the season

Pretty much the perfect depth player, especially for a team like Detroit that could always use an extra righty in the lineup

Dallas Stars signed Colin Miller (2 Years / $1,850,000 AAV)
Wow, that's a really good deal for Miller. Didn't expect his new contract to be this much of a bargain, especially considering the price of defensemen so far in this free agent period.

Yep, I'm sure signing Gaudreau wouldn't put the Wings in cap hell in two seasons when Raymond and Seider's ELCs are up... surely

Detroit Red Wings signed David Perron (2 Years / $4,750,000 AAV)
I've loved Perron as a player for a long time, and that's coming from a Wings fan that's never had the pleasure of having him on the team... until now! This is like a dream come true.
As for the contract itself, it's good! Two years, under 5mil, solid deal. Can't wait to see him in Detroit.

Washington Capitals signed Darcy Kuemper (5 Years / $5,250,000 AAV)
Washington has been Kuemper's expected landing spot for a while, and it's a good deal! The term feels just a little too long but that solid AAV makes up for it. Excited to see how Kuemper does with the Caps.

Love this deal. Adding to the Czech mafia, getting another solid player the Blackhawks didn't bother to qualify... this is a good move.

Detroit Red Wings signed Ben Chiarot (4 Years / $4,750,000 AAV)
I hate this deal, but honestly, with how much the rest of the league seems to covet Chiarot it shouldn't be all too tough to get out of when the time comes. Still, this is probably the worst contract signing of the Yzerman era so far.

Florida Panthers signed Marc Staal (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
Really disappointed he didn't come back to Detroit. At league minimum for one year, there's absolutely no risk here, and Staal was a beast for the Wings last season (considering where he played in the lineup). When it comes to value, this looks to be one of the best contracts so far in free agency.

St. Louis Blues signed Thomas Greiss (1 Year / $1,500,000 AAV)
Gotta admit, I don't hate this move. Greiss was better than his sv% suggested last year, and it's not too much of a gamble that he'll be a serviceable backup behind a decent defense. The price is fine, as a veteran with a good history I couldn't see him dropping to league minimum for one bad year, so $1.25mil isn't a bad AAV. Hopefully he can get his mojo back in St. Louis.

Detroit Red Wings signed Andrew Copp (5 Years / $5,625,000 AAV)
It's a good deal, definitely the biggest swing Yzerman has taken so far in free agency with the Wings but also a worthwhile one. Copp is a proven middle-six center with the potential to provide legitimate top 6 upside, and his style of play fits the team identity Yzerman seems to be building. Helps that he's a local guy too. I've been a big fan of Copp coming to Detroit, and at this AAV and term, I think it makes a lot of sense. Glad to see Copp coming home, and as the newly anointed longest contract for the Wings, I hope he has a great new chapter of his career there.

(OTT/MIN) - Gustavsson for Talbot
Here's a quote from Bill Guerin just four days ago, the day after re-signing Marc-Andre Fleury: "I don’t have sh*t to do. Cam Talbot’s under contract. George (Talbot's agent) can say whatever the hell he wants. My team’s set right now, and that’s the way it goes. So we can have all the discussions we want. Cam’s a member of our team. We really like Cam. All we’re trying to do is win. All we’re trying to do is have good, strong goaltending, and I think we have that."

They despise youth lol
The lineup looks pretty good though, I can understand keeping McMichael and AJF out when the rest of the lineup is that stacked

I'm thinking it's either Fiala, Hayes, Stone, Pearson, Granlund, Nyquist, Brassard, Hartman, Simmonds, Dahlen, Johansson, Dea, Brannstrom, Gudbranson, Beaulieu, Montour, Del Zotto, Wideman, Knight, or Kinkaid. :nod
That's close enough, right?
