If you don’t want to include the 1st, then Barron or Helleson must be involved in the trade or else it’s going to be a no. The Stars aren’t trading him to one of their biggest rivals if the value isn’t great.

For a team that SHOULD have the 31st or 32nd overall pick this year, you should absolutely be willing to move your 1st. It's not like Colorado is some fringe playoff team hoping to sneak into the 8-seed.

I'd be willing to discuss a top-d prospect but Bowers rather than Kaut. Also, we don't have a first-round pick this year, but a conditional 1st next year might be something Sakic would consider, but he hates mortgaging the future.
