Description
Kent Hughes said speed is key to rebuilding his team. Experts think that players who are fast and are on a good enough contract should be staying in MTL. Some of these players COULD include :
- Paul Byron;
- Josh Anderson;
- Arturi Lehkonen;
- Tyler Toffoli (great pro attitude and great contract);

The young core untouchables:
- Suzuki, Caufield, Romanov, Primeau, Ylonen, Ghule.

Unlikely to be traded:
- Dvorak (still young, good contract), Gallagher, Poehling, Pitlick, Evans, Savard (contract and francophone), Edmunson (contract).

Open for a trade discussion:
- Petry, Chiarot, Hoffman, Armia, Allen, Kulak, Paquette.
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Kravtsov, Vitali
Additional Details:
2nd in the Metropolitan division, needs strength and. a playoff warrior.
NYR
  1. Chiarot, Ben
Additional Details:
Kravtsov fits the rebuild for MTL and has no place in NYR's future.
2.
MTL
  1. Barrie, Tyson
  2. Koskinen, Mikko
  3. Lavoie, Raphael
Additional Details:
Petry's a great defenseman for a playoff push, has term and this trade frees some cap space for EDM to get more depth offensively. A big upgrade for EDM in my opinion! Kent Hughes said he prefers player assets to draft picks, therefore it would cost them Lavoie to free cap space and solidify the D.
3.
MTL
    B prospect or 4th round pick.
    LAK gets a cheap, good top4 potential D to round off their D for the playoffs.
    4.
    MTL
    1. 2022 2nd round pick (NSH)
    Additional Details:
    NSH could us some offensive depth for a playoff push without paying too much. Armia's a great puck possession forward with proven record. Could be resigned to a cheaper contract come FA.
    NSH
    1. Armia, Joel
    2. 2022 4th round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
    MTL moves up in the draft this year.
    5.
    MTL
    1. Pettersson, Marcus
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
    DeSmith's number are terrible this year - I feel like the weakness they need to address is secondary goaltending. Jake Allen would be a great support to Jarry and is not too expensive. Pettersson's contract is terrible, but he's still young and a servicable defenseman.
    6.
    MTL
      Goalscoring depth for a playoff push - PP specialist.
      ANA
      1. Hoffman, Mike
      Additional Details:
      A B prospect or 3 rounder.

      Pettersson > Allen. Allen hasn't been great this year and Pettersson has been great. Pettersson himself is worth a 1st right now

      I'm quite surprised at your answers, statistically Allen's a luxury backup and Petterson's an overpaid top6D. You want a 1st round pick for a 11 points overpaid guy? That's as crazy as MTL fans wanting a 1st and a prosepct for Chiarot. It's just not the value IMO.

      Pettersson's never had a full season, he's always injured, his best season ever is 22 points. No one's paying a 1st for that.

      Your going based off points. He's ben great defensively and is way better than Allen. He only has 5 wins in the 24 games he's played and has over a 3.00 GAA. Pens aren't gonna trade there (Arguable their best defenseman defensive wise) for a goalie who isnt gonna put up the number we want them to

      Kudos on one of the most reasonable Habs sell off threads that I've seen.

      My thoughts:
      -Kravtsov could make sense for the Rangers trade...I'd like to see them make a move for a longer term LD, but the valuable seems reasonable. Could see them trying for Hampus Lindholm though.
      -The only thing I don't like about the Oilers trade is them adding $1.75 mil to their payroll for next year. Would make it tough to upgrade in net, but maybe they're content with Skinner/Smith (I wouldn't be...)
      -4th seems fine for Kulak. *MIGHT* be able to squeeze a 3rd, but there's a bunch of LD's on the market.
      -Pettersson has actually been solid this year. Matheson might make some sense, and it would be nice to see Pettersson get some more minutes, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that contract is terrible.
      -I'd be curious to see what the market for Hoffman actually is...He's always been a near-lock to get close to 30 goals/82 games, but the best offer he could get last offseason was 3 x $4.5...I just can't imagine a ton of teams lining up to take 2 x $4.5 on at this point. Might be someone though.
