Description

- Kubalik is struggling this year and needs a change of scenery I think. I think playing with Verhaeghe and Barkov can revive him. FLA also gets defensive depth out of the trade. CHI can flip Vatrano for assets, as he is a cap casualty of the trade, unless CHI wants to keep him around.
- CHI gets two solid prospects for Kubalik and DeHaan (both on expiring deals) and a 2nd
- DeHaan comes in for d-depth
- FLA trades Juolevi rather than risk losing him on waivers and sends him off w/ Tippett for a couple of picks and Pysyk, who comes in for extra defensive depth.
-FLA basically Kucherovs Thornton by keeping him on IR for the rest of the season except for the San Jose game. It's not really cap circumvention, but allows them to keep another body on the roster instead of risking someone to waivers.

Sabres turn this down pretty easily

1- Tippett & Juolevi have been disappointing prospects/young players

2- we’re actually in pretty good shape with wingers, and especially good shape with LH defensemen

3- Pysyk has played well for us, & i think we are trying to keep him

Maybe we’d trade Pysyk?
But not for 2 disappointing young players who don’t fit, AND give u a 2nd
There’s just absolutely ZERO chance imo

I would take that from CHI perspective but I think FLA are pretty keen on Nause and doubt they would allow him to move.
