Description
Definitely a younger, faster roster with some nice potential. Rutherford can look at moving others within the next year or two depending on contractual fit, with an eye to being seriously competitive in about three years.
Trades
1.
VAN
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
Additional Details:
Massively underperforming on his contract and has requested a trade. This move clears some immediate cap room for Boston, they can use at the deadline and gives them a more physical player for their bottom 6.
BOS
  1. Dickinson, Jason
Additional Details:
Hasn't been a great fit in Vancouver and likely a player Rutherford will move out. If DeBrusk isn't a fit and doesn't resign at a much more reasonable contract, Vancouver can just walk away from him in the off season.
2.
VAN
  1. Walsh, Reilly
  2. Zacha, Pavel
  3. 2022 2nd round pick (NJD)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Boeser is the best player in the deal and will fit very well with the NJ forward group. Fills a position of need and their window quite nicely.
NJD
  1. Boeser, Brock
Additional Details:
Two young players at positions of need for Vancouver and a couple of useful picks. Vancouver adds speed, potential and cap room.
3.
VAN
  1. Kravtsov, Vitali
  2. Lundkvist, Nils
  3. 2022 1st round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Miller is by all accounts their #1 target and fits their needs perfectly.
NYR
  1. Miller, J.T.
Additional Details:
Unless Vancouver retains salary (and they likely don't want to) this is probably the maximum return. If retention is involved a commensurate 4th piece is required.
4.
VAN
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Could be any team looking for a bottom 6 penalty killer that plays at a high tempo.
5.
VAN
  1. Hagelin, Carl
  2. Leason, Brett
  3. 2022 1st round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Washington has been looking for a top 6 forward and has been scouting the Canucks. Garland can be massaged under the cap and has term on a good contract.
WSH
  1. Garland, Conor
Additional Details:
Vancouver primarily gets cap flexibility and the first. Leason is a big body with some potential and Hagelin can help with the penalty kill in the short term. Maybe a better prospect comes back in this trade (Iorio?), but unlikely.

Don’t mind the Dickinson for debrusk trade but I think Boston would decline. Canucks should turn down all other trades imo.

This roster is now really bad

As a Caps fan I'll do that trade in a second but don't think VAN does.

A reasonable Miller trade? What is this forum coming to?

Yeah bruins decline, Debrusk WILL be a good player wherever he goes. He has the raw talent, he just needs decent line mates.

I'm not sure DeBrusk has much value given his play and the qualifying offer he needs. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see much of a return for Jake given his last two years.
