Chara is an absolute non-starter. And for a 3rd??? Gak.

And frankly, I do not see how Sanheim is worth this much. He's too skinny, only has one more year until UFA and hasn't been that good for two years now. And the Blues love Sunny too much anyway.

Sanheim has actually been one of the few players that has been excellent this year on Philly, also 1.5-2 years remaining is when a player generally cost the most to buy

1- Not a big RAPM fan, too simplistic, too analytically-based. Sanheim gives the puck away far too much, doesn't play with any edge and the chances he gives up tend to be of the high danger variety. And his offensive game has been on a steady decline for 3-4 years now. Doesn't really fit the Blues style and rates as a buyer beware to me.

2- Ehh? How does that work? Players with term would cost more.

1. I understand not basing an opinion off analytics alone, and I agree with that. I think it's important to not let them be the only deciding factor on a players game. However It is very difficult to watch every game for every team so the access to analytics is useful. I for one have seen very few Blues games this year. As for Sanheim's offensive game, he does sit 2nd on the team in CF/60, so he is definitely generating chances. I would also like to add that he ranks 30th league wide in GAR and tied for 27th in WAR this year.

2. Generally because more term means more commitment, with a player you generally have about a 2-3 year window on what that player is going to provide for you based on their contract. Look at the Victor Rask contract for example. There is also the fact that most cup window's are 2-4 years long

There are exceptions to this rule though, such as Eichel, and likely Chychrun at some point
