Retention of 3.1mil on an expiring UFA is probably a 3rd.

Retention of 3.1mil for 2 years is probably a 1st and more, and Mikheyev as an expiring UFA (when CGY is set at wing, but losing a center) offers nothing in this deal

If anything will pay to get rid of his contract, so I would think having 3.2 millions off their cap hit for next year is a win. Would a prospect instead of Mikheyev work out in your opinions?

i dont think monahan gets moved this year. calgarys forward group is incredibly deep. they have a decent shot to go on a cup run. that being said, offseason i could totally see them trying to move on from monahan maybe even include some retention to get an asset back.
