Description
Tried to base Hagel deal off of Coleman's a couple years ago being that the two are in very similar situations. Not sure how keen Chicago is in trading Hagel so it could certainly take more, but I think at the very least it's a good starting package

Chychrun deal gives ARI a top prospect, another 1st rounder (I think theyd prefer next years rather than this years given they already have 3 this year) as well as Debrusk who's playing great hockey. Qualifying offer is not a big deal given that ARI will look to get to cap floor next year (and if he keeps up the way he's playing, I don't see why a team wont offer him $4+ mill). Also important to not look over Vaak, played excellent hockey this year before getting injured. He looked at home playing 20+ minutes with McAvoy

From the Bruins side, they get two players at excellent cap hits for another 2/3 years respectively. Both are still relatively young and allows you more flexibility with your roster. Perfect for their window.

Will do Y2 as well

The difference between Hagel and Colemen is somewhat significant though. Coleman was 5 years old and only had 1.5 years on his deal. Hagel has an extra year and then RFA status. Coleman's career high in points in 36 and Hagel currently has 35 before the TDL in his 2nd season in the NHL. Hagel's ceiling is much higher.

I think you're correct to use comps as the basis of your trade, it's just not a 1 for 1 comp imo. That's all.

Comparing Hagel to Coleman is about as relative as it gets, but that said, it's still not all that relative. Hagel is 23, on a cheaper cap hit for 2 more seasons and then a RFA. Compared to Coleman, those are significant differences and add value obviously. Then add to it Hagel is more productive on the ice and nobody knows what his ceiling is only playing a year and a half in the NHL versus a 26 year old Coleman who was close to his ceiling. On top of it, the Hawks aren't shopping or wanting to trade Hagel, he fits their rebuild plans given his age, cap hit and RFA status.

If a trade for Hagel happens and I believe it to be highly unlikely, I think the Hawks hands have got to be forced with a stupid overpay which no fan of the acquiring team will like. 1st plus a younger top prospect is what analysts are saying.

A 1st and a top prospect is what analysts are saying...the Hawks have already said no to on (4) separate occasions. "top prospect" is relative as we don't really know what those offers were.
