That oilers trade has a few very big reasons why it’s not realistic. Varlamov isn’t waiving for Edmonton and Hyman isn’t an option to move.

Hyman's not necessarily a bad player, but it's hard to discern how much of his scoring is from him, and how much of it comes from playing on lines with Matthews/Tavares/McDavid/Draisaitl. Putting him with Barzal might keep that up, but I'm not a huge fan of trading for another guy who'll be 30 this summer and is making $5.5M. We have plenty of those already, even before you get to his NMC. If we're moving Varly, I'd rather get futures/picks back and use his cap space towards signing a guy instead of trading for one.

Clutterbuck should probably get a 3rd with full retention on his deal, as well.
