Description
Thoughts on the Vegas deal? they shed just shy of 8 mil in cap for the cost of moving down 1 round in 2023 and giving back the 3rd from the Eichel deal. Sabres gain a defensively stout and physical D-man in McNabb and gain a 1st, and 3rd (the 2nds cancel out basically)

What is the point of Gardiner? You are well over the floor.

    Don't like 5 lefties on D.

Peterka is too good for ahl

That would be cool if McNabb is comfortable on the right. I dont think I've seen him there

Mcnabb doesn’t really do much for this blueline, 3rd pairing made for rotating in bottom 4 kids, real need in my opinion would be possibly whitecloud over Mcnabb possibly. Or a right handed dman that can go forward as possibly a power partner for 3/5 years. Originally I was thinking big and powerful protector partner, but anywhere from bear-whitecloud-gudas is kind of interesting with the potential of power. Not that Vegas is moving the potential bargain of whitecloud but it’s kind of interesting non the less.

I don’t think McNabb could play the right side. I would be fine with bringing him back if it made sense, but he’d have to fit somewhere. Routsalainen is not coming back either, and there is no point in taking on Gardiner‘s contract for nothing.

Gardiner is to give the team some cap flexibility come TDL, just like Boychuk this past season. Personally 5 lefties doesn't bother me, McNabb and Dahls can play right without any trouble. Peterka is going to be very good, but I would call him our 1st call up once the inevitable injuries happen. Only way I could see him playing full-time NHL next season is if we trade Mitts, and I'd rather keep the forward depth and give Mitts another season.

I believe he has played the right in Vegas, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes I imagine Whitecloud would be very hard to get because of his contract. Gudas unlikely to be moved from Florida, he's on a great deal as well. Bear is not good imo. Has the potential to be a decent 2nd pair guy but honestly he's just a worse version of Jokiharju (worse in D zone, produces a bit more offense)

I think he could play the right without a problem. Ruots could totally come back, he's been playing well in the AHL and would be a call-up option for us. Its either Buffalo or back to the Liiga for him. Gardiner's contract acquired to give flexibility come TDL as to stay over the cap floor
