Description
Gio signs cheap deal near end of his career. Blackwell is solid and I’d love him back but if he wants a lot more than this then he will get replaced by a FA (Victor Rask would be a great fit). Lily takes a 3 year deal, Sandin takes a 1 year cheap deal “prove it” style, comparable to what Dermott signed a few years back. He isn’t in a position to command an insane amount because he was a scratch for the playoffs and it’s only a 1 year deal. He will be due for a major raise after this year. Campbell takes a short term deal and gets paid near 4 mil. If he doesn’t work, other options include Cam Talbot (via trade), MAF potentially, Varlamov (retained salary, if he says yes to going here), Dreiger, etc

    ARI
    1. Mrázek, Petr
    Additional Details:
Dumped along with a handful of assets

Would expect it to be something like a 2nd + Mrazek for depth pick (or similar value)
    2.
    TOR
      Whatever contending team
      PIT
      1. Kerfoot, Alexander
      Additional Details:
For picks and prospects. Not sure what the return would be, but a versatile PKer + very solid 5v5 producer at 3.5 mil will fetch a good chunk from a contender. I’d expect maybe a 2nd + 3rd, but again the value isn’t what matters here; very solid player and I was a big fan, serves as a great support player in the top 6 or as a speedy 3rd liner, but with the Leafs looking for a better upgrade in the top 6, and no fit on our checking 3rd line (he’s doesn’t fit the style Keefe looks for in the 3rd line), he isn’t worth to keep on the 4th line at that price
      3.
      TOR
Whatever team with a whole in the bottom 4 RD
        NYR
        1. Holl, Justin
        Additional Details:
Holl gets a lot of hate but he is quietly a very solid d man. He is a #4 d man on most teams in the league, and the only reason he wasn’t on the Leafs for the entire year was because Lily broke out and Holl didn’t mesh well with Rielly. Holl is a very solid PKer, can play 20 mins a night, and only makes 2 mil. He provides some physicality and is a good puck mover. Overall, he’s a fine 4D and a very good 3rd pair guy. Given the market around d men, I think he could realistically fetch a 2nd, but maybe a bit more or less.
        4.
        TOR
        1. Asplund, Rasmus
        Additional Details:
Very solid bottom 6er, would fit in very well on the shut down line
        BUF
Again, not going to make a mock trade, but the value w would be a good bit based on his versatility. Probably a similar return to what Kerfoot would fetch on the market, maybe a tad more based on the cap hit and age
          5.
          TOR
          1. Garland, Conor
          Additional Details:
The big add. Very skilled, and I believe would breakout in a more offensive role. He provides more tenacity than Kerfoot, and is great at 5v5
          VAN
          1. Kase, Ondrej [RFA Rights]
          Additional Details:
Reports are that Nucks have looked to move Garland a lot as of late. They couldn’t get a 1st rounder for him at the deadline so refused to move him. The Leafs could very much give up a 1st for him and more, but I think they have their eyes set on keeping their 1st. However, the Leafs could easily package assets that add to that level of value. A package would start around an NHL middle 6er back (Ondrej Kase. Has injury problems but when healthy he is a very solid player). The Leafs would add a B level prospect on top (Kokkonen would be a good fit. He should be a very solid and reliable bottom 4 d man one day), along with a 2nd rounder and another asset on top potentially to push it over the edge

I like Kase when he's playing but come on now, no one in their right mind is trading Garland for a package that starts with Kase given not only his play but his injury history.

Garland for Liljegren + Kerfoot maybe

idk Buffalo would trade Asplund, hes 24, worked his way up, is a core member of the team, and the Sabres arent rebuilding, so it doesnt make sense

Considering he wouldn’t get a 1st at the deadline, he sure as hell isn’t getting a young NHL capable d man worth more than a 1st as of rn and an NHL player who would fetch a solid return too. Kerfoot plus an asset maybe but far from Liljegren’s worth

Who says he wouldn't get a 1st at the deadline? The Canucks were in a playoff race and were transitioning to new management, I can all but guarantee they weren't trying to trade a young top 6 winger with term for a draft pick at that stage. So you can throw that theory out the window. Clearly Garland is worth a late 1st that's not even debatable, prob more like a mid first. Liljegren is maybe worth a late first, Kerfoot is probably worth a 2nd. So not too far off in my mind.

Garland was heavily being shopped at the deadline. He nearly went to LA. Vancouver wanted a 1st but LA wouldn’t budge on that price and that’s why a deal didn’t go through
