Description
So if Price LTRetires, I think Hughes will go out and try and get another Goalie. I doubt he sticks with the same tandem of Allen, Montembeault, Primeau.

I went for Driedger because he had an abysmal season in Seattle, but had solid number a few years ago. So hoping he can return to form. Armia is in the same boat as Driedger as having an abysmal season, but having solid seasons previously. Both are signed to crappy contracts, and at a similar cap hit. Adding Montembeault as an incentive for Seattle to get a younger goaltender in their system, and to compensate for the additional year on Armia's contract.

UFA signings are:

Perron - Veteran top 6 forward to help insulate Wright.

Subban - Low risk, very high reward signing. If Subban can recapture any of the magic he had when he was in MTL, it would be amazing. Not to mention the fans would love seeing him back.

Deslauriers - Depth signing. Everyone liked him when he was here, and is a better "muscle" option than Pezzetta. Can also easily come out of the lineup when Drouin is healthy.

Murray - Depth signing. Definitely someone who has fallen out of grace in the NHL. Low risk signing that can come in the lineup if the Habs rookie dman (Barron, Guhle, Harris, etc.) can't perform.

Schueneman is better than Murray just sign him
I don’t like your 4th line, you got two guys with speed and Deslauriers … while you’re sitting Poehling … I think Deslauriers gets more money and terms anyway
I really don’t understand why people are trading Petry

What happens if Price doesn't LTRetires??

I doubt Philly wants to trade veteran leadership, JVR, for the man no team wanted to re-sign over the last 3 free agency periods. Montreal fans are now realizing why really good organizations, StL/Fla, wanted nothing to do with Hoffman once his contract expired.

The other way to look at it is
after being an average 25 goal scorer per year over 4 years - he became too expensive for Ottawa to re sign
After being an average 30 goal scorer per year over 2 years - he became too expensive for Florida to re sign.
1 year (shortened season) 15 goals, 30+ points in 50 games - he became too expensive for STL to re sign.

If you look at last year, he suffered the same fate as the WHOLE roster suffered - terribly under performing across ALL areas.

    Jt wasn't just Hoffman.

That being said, I think we should move him to make room on the roster for youngsters coming in.

People are trading Petry because Hughes said he would if he could. No guarantee, but I honestly believe he will (and I think he'll get a lot better value than what I'm proposing here, but posting that on here will just attract trolls lol)

Yeah I agree for the 4th line, I see it being Pitlick - Evans - Byron long term, It's just that Drouin is out of the lineup here (and will most likely miss the beginning of the season).

Wasn't a huge fan of Shueneman, not that he wasn't playing good, but I really didn't see anything special in his game. Would rather look elsewhere (doesn't need to be Murray). If we sign Shueneman, I hope it strictly for Laval, and if injuries pile up again, then maybe calling him up.

if Dreidger is who you're eyeing as back up - might as well sign Motembeault
I dont' see the need for Deslauriers when we have cheaper options in Pezzetta and Poehling.
The same with Murray when we can just re sign Scheuneman and Wideman for cheaper, or use any of the options we have in Laval.
I do like the idea of Subban and Perron signings - but I think Perron at this stage and age in his career will be seeking a longer term and on a contender or at the very least, playoff team.
