That Bear trade doesn't make sense. Giving up a pick and letting Lindstrom go would be a mistake. He's not flashy, but defensively he's fantastic and I don't think we've come even close to seeing his ceiling.

Bear is just better and his ceiling is higher than lindstrom is all. I just can't see lindstom being anything more than a bottom pair guy.

I like Bear and wouldn't mind him here, I just like Lindstrom more. Lindstrom is the type of player that's hard to value, because he's not going to put up a lot of offense, but he's strong, smart and can be a human eraser defensively. I see him being the type that you pair with an offensively skilled guy and that guy has a career year, and then slumps when they're split up and everyone fails to connect the dots. He's not quite as physical, but think Cernak for example.

I also really like Lindstrom as a PK, shut down specialist that can anchor a 3rd pair for years without an inflated contract, because those guys tend not to make as much because of their lack of points. As long as we have Seider and Hronek, we don't need another offensive threat on RD, so I also feel like he fills a role we do need, perfectly.

In most of the important advanced stats, he finished in the top 3 of Wings defenseman last year, despite less opportunities and mismanagement by Blashill. He's still only 23 as well and last season was his first real NHL season.

I get why people overlook him, I just think he's a very good defender who, if used right, can really help a team win games.
