The Leafs need someone in their top 6 long-term so giving up prospects for a top 6 rental isn't really worth it unless they have someone who can 100% step in next season (and they can't test Knies until after TDL, so no way of knowing).

The issue is both players are primarily wingers which is a surplus in Vancouver I think Pittsburgh would be able to give us a better offer imho

That’s a fair point. I think Kerfoot can still play C tho and I’m also assuming that one more winger is traded (Pearson, Boeser, Garland).
