Say so long to Byram if you're trying to get Kane. Team is good enough now without him to win

Chicago won't have much leverage. The idea is that Kane isn't going to want to stick around since the team is blowing it up, and he has a full NMC, so he'll get to choose where to go. The Avs are the front-runners for the Cup again next season, so that's his likely destination if he wants to go for another Cup before his current deal expires. Sure, Chicago could ask for Byram in return, but if they refuse, are the Hawks ready to deny the trade request from their franchise player?

I think that Chicago will get back a solid return, but I don't think they're in a position to demand certain players, especially if they're active roster players that were part of the Cup team.

Strome isn’t a fit in COL. Nichushkin for 1yr neither side does that. Sakic has effectively one pick in the next 2 drafts, 2 100% NHL prospects in Olausson and Behrens and then the cupboard gets pretty bare, don’t see him making a move for Kane.

Don't know much about Strome. They just need someone cheaper than Kadri that can take over at 2C. Strome is available and costs no assets.

As far as Nichushkin goes, the idea is that he takes less to get one more shot at the Cup before moving on elsewhere. Gives him a chance to show that this past season wasn't a aberration.

I don't know what the cost would be. After seeing what DeBrincat went for, I don't know that the trade price is outrageous as some might think. The alternative is that Kane refuses to waive his NMC, and then the Hawks lose him for nothing next summer.
