Detroit fans probably gonna hate this trade. Tuomisto being a high 2nd round pick. But guess what?? So was Pettersson; 38th overall. And Ya, I understand. I remember you all drooling over Tuomisto and his size after the draft. Even though, he was mostly ranked and seen as a 3rd-4th round pick.

Pens system is just lacking RHD prospects badly. I wouldn’t mind a 3rd round pick but would prefer a prospect and a 5th or 6th. And Tuomisto hasn’t been great in college. Seems like a good two way, penalty killing D-man. Probably a No.4 or 5 defenseman that kills penalties.


Pettersson is still just 26 years old and signed next season plus two more. At 4.025M per. Basically 4M per(plus 25K..lol). With what quality NHL D-man are getting paid now-a-days, it’s a good contract.

Pettersson/Moritz would make a good pairing right away until Edvinsson comes along and then Pettersson moves to 2nd pairing LHD. Pettersson’s stay at home and puck moving abilities compliment Seider’s well.

Antti is the only RD prospect Detroit has and he won't be traded until we have better prospects in that position.

We'd happily offer you McIsaac as he has been overtaken in the depth chart by younger kids and only has one year of waiver exemption left. If he's not to your liking, a 3rd it is. Pettersson will be paired with Hronek who is the player that will benefit the most by being paired with Marcus. Seider doesn't need that sort of help.

I very much hope that Malkin signs for less than this considering Letangs contract
