I certainly don't mind Michael Stone (though 5 year term is a little long for me) but NOT Brendan Smith. Mike Babcock is not a fan of his slow and inconsistent defensive game.

don't know why you buried Fehr, he's probably needed as a fifth c or rw. five years for stone seems a lot for an inconsistent player over the years, but someone might pay that. rather have hunwick back for a year than smith long term.

I don't see any scenario where Hyman is playing with Matthews next year. Maybe Kapanen , but likely someone like Marleau perhaps to mentor Matthews and Marner who will definitely be playing together this year

Matthews and Marner won't be playing together 5 on 5 and likely not even powerplay, except for some short stints when they need a spark just like what happened this year. Both can carry a line on their own and both like to have the puck on their stick. Babcock likes them apart and honestly so do I, it gives the team balance and tougher matchups for the opposition.
