To sign that contract Palat is leaving at least 24 million on the table, because some one if not many teams will pay him 6x6 for a 36 million total/ Good luck with that.

why wouldn't he the lightning can't come near the cash other teams can? Do you honestly think 4mil aav is close to market value ?

Tampa would need to pay him more. The team can roll with 21 players if need be, but either by not re-signing Rutta, buying out or trading Myers, or trading Killorn while he still has value, Tampa could fit Palat in the 5.5-5.75 range. You give the team the best chance to win now, and then decide on moves for next year. If 1 of the 5 rfas has to go, then so be it. Tampa could still get a good amount of value for all of them(some better than others), and it would likely be one of Colton or Foote if they did, as they would still have enough to keep the big 3 rfas.
