I don't think he sucks as much as Washington didn't even need him. He's a top pairing guy and you bury him on the 3rd pairing he isn't going to do much in limited ice time. Washington should've went after Hanzal with that package not Shattenkirk.

I think Shattenkirk is a PP specialist that is mostly a liability defensively. He's very talented, but at the same time St. Louis was better without him. Part of the reason there's even hype on Shattenkirk is because he' one of the only quality UFA's out there on defense.
