why not just protect Jenner instead of giving up assets? Komorav is currently going to be protected so if your trading him then there should be an opening.

Leafs would not sign Smith. Also, way too much for Dumba. Where did Kovalchuk come from? Did we make some sort of deal with NJ in your scenario?

Dumba is not a good fit for the Leafs. We crucially need blue liners who are reliable in their zone. On the top of that, we lose JVR and further weaken the LW, and lose a first round pick. This is really not a good trade, unless you are a Minnesota fan.
