Description

Watched Myers all season he is slow on turning against fast players and looks lost leaving players open in front of the net when the opponent is cycling especially down low. Get value while its perceived to be a net positive as we have other D that can push O and keep the right side Cheap for now. I like Pearson but we have better options for our top 9 and he's too expensive to be a 4th line player on our team. Next year we get another 2.4 mil in cap space from our buyouts falling off plus whatever the cap is increased by. Allows for Bonus not to roll over and gives space for a rental if we overperform during the season. Gives ~14 mil next year to give Bo/Miller/Hogs/Kuzmenko all a raise and still have space to upgrade our right side.

Peason could be any team as you mentioned, just odd out of 31 teams you chose the one team that is tanking by design for picks and on a 5 year tear down rebuild

Isn't Anaheim, Arizona, and Chicago also tanking by design for picks?

I don't think Anaheim takes this deal, we are taking on underperforming contracts in exchange to receiving picks, we wouldn't be interested in paying for anyone.

If he wasn't underperforming his contract, you wouldn't be looking to move him. If the ducks pay for a player, he needs to at a minimum be performing to his contract level, be on the final year of his contract, and be someone that a contender would be interested in taking on as a rental at the deadline. That way we can flip him for a higher draft pick than we paid for him when we retain 50% salary as we ship him out the door.

Just picked the top couple teams from the drop down, Pearson im sure could fit on quite a few teams. Its not that Myers is underperforming to his contract its that we have enough offensive D and would prefer cheaper Defensive D to fill the right side. I image Anaheim could flip him for a better pick with 50% retention, at 3 mil he's a really good option especially with a defensive LHD as a partner
