If Muzzin is going to the Ducks, Silverberg sure isn’t heading back. It would probably be basically nothing coming back, for cap reasons.

Wow! I'm impressed!! That Muzzin-for-Silfverberg trade is far from being the Worst Trade Possible . . . it's one of the first Muzzin-to-SoCal ideas I've seen that I've liked. Anaheim gets the less expensive player in real money (which is important to us) and Toronto shaves a little off the cap top (which is important to the Maple Leafs).

Oh, wait a minute, I'm supposed to be an anti-Toronto goon . . .

Yeah, but then you'd have to give us something.

I still think that (1) trading Muzzin is a mistake for you guys, and (2) the proper deal is a clone of the Mrazek move-back-from-the-first-to-the-second deal.

Muzzin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mrazek lol

The only reason it makes sense to trade Muzzin is if you get at least something for him (which doesn’t seem very likely), otherwise just keep him as he still holds value to the leafs.

I couldn't agree more with all 3 of your points, but the fact that Muzzin had and has value to Toronto and Mrazek didn't is irrelevant to the bottom-feeder team that would be only accepting Muzzin because he's a cap dump to them. I've said numerous times that I think it would be a mistake for the Maple Leafs, in their current posture, to trade Muzzin, in large part because Toronto has no internal replacement for him and the 6 remaining free-agent LDs who played more than 40 games last year aren't as good as he is.
