Description
With Carey obviously back to LTIR this team will have a staggering 27.7 million dollars of cap space! Monahan, Byron, Dadonov are likely all being traded at the 2023 TDL for future assets, looking at the big picture you get why Hoffman isn't much of a cap issue for next year.
Montreal likely going for a big name in FA or trade market, here are the three more likely from my POV (Every other big agent will either be re-signed or is too old to fit our window).
- Dubois would make sense being back RFA and with Dvorak contracts expiring.
- If a deal can be done (If he express he wants out), Meier would be cementing this left wing with a Meier/Slaf combo.
- Horvat even doe he is often injured would be an excellent 2/3C to get in case Dubois falls through.
- Extra, Comptois could be a buy low type of guy.
----------------------
-Heineman, Ylonen and Pinard moves up to the NHL as regulars up front, Guhle comes in as a regular on the back end.
-Heineman and RHP are net front presence for the PP.

Anyone not named Bedard wouldn't start in Montreal right away.

No idea on the market or the type of return we could expect by then. With 10.5 million still free we could certainly retain if needed.

Caufield will command more on a 8 year deal. My guess is that he will get around what Suzuki have gotten.

Depends on what he does this year. If he is at 25-30 goals at the TDL I could see that, if he is at 10-15 goals by the TDL it will be a bridge deal 3 years at approx $4-5M

I am confident that he will be close to 40 goal by the end of the season.

With Suzuki under 8, Brady Tkachuk just above 8 and now Stutzle slitghly above 8 I can't see Cole making anywhere close to this. Gallagher was signed to a 6.5M deal after back to back 30 goal seasons, anywhere between 6.5 to 7.25 should be expected if he has another good year.

I agree. Low end will be 30 goals.

I do think though that the contract wont be that much higher than the OP suggests. Gaudreau signed for 9 million as a UFA. Wingers dont get the bag!
