When last Sakic spoke about trading one of his top-6 young forwards, which to me meant Landeskog or Duchene, the price was a 1st round draft pick, top-prospect and young NHL-ready player with high upside, at least. So, unless something has drastically changed over in Colorado fantasy land, the cost would be something like the NYI 1st round draft pick in 2018 (which is shaping up to be a far better draft than 2017), Matt Barzal and Ryan Pulock, at minimum. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Sakic also asked for Michael Dal Colle. Seems like a lot to acquire Duchene. As a side note, the Islanders probably are one of the few teams that have the prospects and young talent needed to acquire one of Colorado's top-6 forwards.

I can tell you that 1. If Garth traded Dal Colle, Barzal, Pulock AND a 1st he'd be run out of New York. 2. If somebody was actually willing to pay that price, Duchene wouldve been gone by the deadline. I wouldnt be surprised if his value took a dip

A 1st rounder and the Isles' two best prospects? No. If Barzal and Pulock are on the table, then so is MacKinnon (there's no way he is). I think this guy underpaid for Duchene, but even then, the Isles would be crazy to trade either Barzal or Pulock for a 2nd Line Center who scored less than 5 guys on the Isles roster last year.

Sakic has overvalued Duchene by a lot. If he was worth what Sakic is asking for, one of the many teams pursuing Duchene would have already paid up.

Last year, Duchene had three years left on his contract, and he had yet to post the abysmal numbers he put up this year. He definitely had value.

Now he's a 34 point scorer with 2 years left on contract. I know 34 is a bad year for him, and that he'll likely bounce back, but that's still an added risk to acquiring him. If you ask me, his value has dipped significantly, though not catastrophically. The Isles wouldn't be offering up Hamonic if he was worth nothing.
