Not sure if there was meant to be a trade here but Nils is not a fit in Calgary because he simply won't get ice time on the Flames. He needs to go to a team that can potentially give him top 4 minutes this year or at least a near full time role

Nils Lundkvist is no more a fit in Calgary than New York. He's not going to get top 4 minute playing time with the Flames. Which he wants.

Aside from what Ledge & Passion correctly pointed out already, Valimaki wouldn’t be enough by himself to acquire Lundkvist

Probably worth more like a NYR 2nd RD Pick, Jayden Grubbe or Ryder Korczac at this point. Could add and give Vitaly Kravtsov a gamble otherwise Gauthier, but NYR would be adding to Gauthier if they wanted Valimaki
