How so? I think its honestly not too bad. I'd imagine Wright is going to get a try out at least, yes? Imo you're looking at:

LW: McCann Burakovsky Schwartz Donato
C: Gourde, Wright, Wennberg Beniers
RW: Bjorkstrand, Eberle, Donskoi, Tanev
Scratch: Geekie, Lind, Kuhlman

If Wright doesn't stick and goes to juniors, move McCann to center maybe, shift Tanev to LW and put Lind/Kuhlman in. It isn't Stanley Cup winning, but its not horrible. Center is for sure the weakest spot.

I actually like a lot of their forwards, the problem is they're all just like really solid top six players and there's no real core pieces there. Eberle, Bjorkstrand, Burakovsky, McCann, Gourde- those are guys that most teams should want to supplement their core, but none of them are really guys you build around. Part of that is their ages. Maybe that ends up working out if Berniers and Wright establish themselves as difference makers from the word go, But it's also more than possible that that takes awhile and by the time they get there some of those guys are older and less effective.

The messy parts really are their free agency dips. Committing to Schwartz and Wennberg like that was a bit shortsighted.

Was thinking the same thing, they have a pretty solid forward group, if anything their defense and goaltending are a mess.
