Description
This is a long shot i know it, but there have been a few mentions that if the sens outperform expectations and are in a playoff spot at the deadline then there has been mention that OTT and Kane would be willing to make this type of move purely as a rental player.
OTT can not sign him after this season and Debrincat Extension.

How to Sens and Hawks Fans feel about this?
KAne can then sign where ever he wants ala giroux style in off season.

Probably gonna need a lot more in terms of draft capital. 23 2nd and 24 conditional 3rd to a 2nd. And I don’t think they need or want Thomson. Jarventie is intriguing though.

Thomson would depend on if Hawks start selling any RD like Murphy or Mitchell. Then they’d need a replacement.

I see Thompson as having the same value as a 1st, and would fit in age-wise with a rebuild over Murphy and don't know much about Micthell, but could be comparable.

Since this would be a rental situation, and it is being done more for Kane as a way to play with his buddy again, and this all hinges on the fact that OTT is in a playoff spot, then I would think the return might not need to be as high, as the hawks are doing kane a favor for his years there.

does Kane make this team a cup contender? still think this team needs a legit Goalie and a D and move Zaitsev IMO.
best to make the playoffs this year get a taste and then focus on filling out the roster next offseason.
you guys worked so hard to build this team up and if you start moving picks and prospects now for pure rental i think it hurts the long term success. team is to good and just hitting their window to start reaching for temp fixes.

Agree 100% not to mention, Sens need to do everything possible to make Cat feel like he wants to sign a long-term deal. The reason Cat was traded and the return wasn't as good as many projected, is because Cat and his agent were unwilling to sign an extension and may test the market after next season. Therefore, the Sens should be focused on the future and have a backup plan if Cat won't sign long term which means draft capital and prospects are still incredibly important to them.

Debrincat has already come out and made statements about how much he likes Ottawa already and they are currently in talks on an extension already. The team still needs to win games, but I think the team has done the right things to make him happy. As I mention this all hinges on the fact hat OTT is in a playoff spot this season, with that in place showing the willingness to bring in his best buddy as a rental to make a run would only help Debrinkat like the team more no?

I do think that there needs to upgrade on D still for this team, but that can work out as well with the play of Branstromm and Sanderson so far this season not as pressing a need. and JBD will still move into this group.

As for the Goalie, Forsberg has been great and shows he has room to grow still he could become the long-term starter and Talbot will help balance the load. The real plan I believe is that our 2019 37th overall pick Sogard who is a 6'8 Danish monster will become the starter for the team's window. He is only 21 still and starting a lot of games in the AHL this season, played 2 seasons on a bad medicine hat team with around a 2.50 GAA, and won WHL goalie of the year one season.
