  1. Kubalik, Dominik ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The New York Islanders have bet on themselves with the Bo Horvat deal. It is make the playoffs this year or bust.

The team’s powerplay is one of the major reasons that they have struggled, and I expect them to want to supplement Bo and increase the likelihood of making it into the playoffs, where their style of gameplay is so much more potent.

Enter Kubalik. Not a strict rental - he has another year on his contract. Kubalik really shines on the powerplay - some might consider him a specialist - and if Detroit retains Lou could have him for this year - and next - for a little over league minimum. With Bo looking to cash in big, a cheap scoring option could provide immense value for the islander org.

Think somewhat like the hagel trade last year, only Kubalik is not as good as hagel.

Kubalik’s 14 goals this year would make him fourth on the team (third, if we don’t yet count Bo Horvat)

If the Islanders are serious about fixing their power play. they are asking about Perron rather than Kubalik.

Respectfully they don’t have the capital to trade for Perron now that their next two firsts are locked up. Especially as I don’t think Steve has the intention of selling him.

I do agree he would be a good acquisition though. But he is on a great contract and is all old hockey GMs favourite things.

I think Perron would be the stronger option of the two, but I don’t think Steve is keen to move him and without 23/24 first at the isles disposal I don’t think they have the assets to aquire Perron on his contract for 1.5 years.

He’s underpaid for what he is, he has experience, he has grit, he is all a playoff GMs wants.

Kubalik is on pace for 58 points, 1.5 years left on a $2,500,000 deal, Is worth more than one single 2nd round pick make it 2 2nd round picks and it's a deal.
