Too much given from a Leafs stand point IMO. Not saying Oreilly is not worth of this return, just the price is not right for the Leafs.

This obviously does not happen in any timeline, sorry.

Care to explain?

I think O'Reilly to the Leafs definitely is a possibility.

Okay, the late 1st is a pretty decent start, obviously. Then we have an overaged C+ goalie prospect the Blues have no room or need for, a small B-ish LD prospect they almost certainly aren't going to value much and a solid middle 6er UFA completing the offer for the Blues' captain with max retention. I mean... that's not a competitive offer, man. Obviously.

Okay gotcha!

I think a fair package for him is 1st + 3rd + High End Prospect + Cap. I view Niemela as a A- prospect, so he is in the high end. B is not high end, so you disagree with his value. Woll has potential but has struggled with injuries. They would need to really like him. I suggest a 3rd round pick instead. Also, I think the Leafs should do this trade but not have Kerfoot in there. So 1st, 3rd, Niemela. And maybe one small piece to push them over. Another team may beat this but it would depend on which prospect they like the best.

The package the OP listed isn't terrible by any means. But it all depends on your interpretation of Niemela as a prospect.
