No chance Leafs take Miroshnichenko! As morbid and sad as it sounds the Leafs can’t risk having two of their top prospects with cancer :( really hope someone takes a flyer on him though

That's a good point, they are in different groups. I feel like they need to give Holl some time away from Muzzin to make sure he's actually a player and not just a product of Muzzin. Also, I feel like Sandin Brodie is a legitimate option as a pair. They tried it a couple of times last year and now have been trying it again in camp.

So far in all the line rushes ( I know it's early) he has been playing with Dahlstrom and Liljegren with Muzzin. They might just be trying Liljegren in Holl's spot to see if he's a fit, but Liljegren is younger, cheaper, and has a far superior upside. I think it's up to Liljegren whether or not Holl plays opening night.

I really don't know why so many folks make posts of for the Leafs getting wingers and the expense of centres...and sometimes Dmen.</div></div>
That’s a really good point! I added a centre trade so that we regain our depth at centre! Better?

Also, I feel like two good top 9 forwards, an A level Prospect, a B level Prospect, a C level Prospect and a first would be close. I It might not get it done, but its definitely close.

Obviously he didn’t sign the 895k offer sheet yet but he’s not gonna get more than 1M/year from Toronto. And he’s not arbitration eligible.
And Mikheyev is arbitration eligible and has a hearing soon. He will probably win something like 1.5-2M a year.</div></div>
Ya, I overpriced Dermott to see how much money I was working with. I'm hoping it will be around 1.1 max. As for Mikheyev, I heard that based on his production he due for a 5% raise but since he has an arbitration hearing it will probably be raised to between 1-1.5. I think the article I read though was assuming he losses his hearing though.

Hanks still has some in the tank and I’m pretty confident he can’t put up at least a .910 in a platoon role of 30-40 which isn’t great (better than Freddy this year...) but Campbell put up a .928 over 31 games for a TERRIBLE LA team 2 years ago which is very good! It’s definitely a risk and I’m not sure I fully trust that Campbell can put up even close to those numbers again or that hank can be that good but it’s definitely not as bad as people may think.

I never thought of this type of deal before, but i think that would be tough to eat 2M on the cap for 8 years. I wonder if a team like Ottawa/PHX or one of these low budget teams would do something like this tho (not necessarily Petro) but to allow them to get to the floor. For example, Sens sign a player, flip him to leafs and retain salary but its a front loaded contract that is paid by the leafs...
I would love for someone who knows more about the CBA to explain if that's allowed or possible.</div></div>
I also wonder if it would be technically possible for this situation to happen but instead of LA retaining $2mil, OTT and LA each retain $1mil. Would definitely be interesting

Trying something different
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>etpeck</b></div><div>It’s absolutely terrible value. The value of pesce to the canes is similar to the value of Nylander to the leafs. Pesce is on an amazing contract and is a great shutdown defender. The package for him is far far more than 1 year of Anderson an at best C level prospect, and 2 picks neither being a 1st. If the canes were to trade pesce it would be to make a huge upgrade elsewhere and this isn’t it. Is Anderson somewhat of an upgrade for a year? Yes. But it is also a bigger downgrade to the canes defense</div></div>

I see what you're both saying. I didn't realize his value was so high. assuming a first is off the table and so are any of the leafs top 6, what do you think could be added? Liljigren?

Except the canes aren't trading Pesce for Anderson! They are trading Pesce for Anderson ($1mil retained), a 2nd, a 3rd, and a prospect. And they aren't retaining Salary on Pesce, Ottawa is. That seems like pretty decent value for him IMO

As a Leafs fan, I honestly don't see them taking Schneider for the sole reason that Dubas has never been one to draft for position. Even though he would be great and does fit the Leafs needs, no matter what the circumstances, I don't see Schneider as being the best player available at 15.

Timmins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McRanteskog</b></div><div>COL declines, Timmins is too valueable to COL D core moving forward
COL has no need for Dermott or Johansson.
D core for them moving forward is:
Graves (LHD) - Makar (RHD)
Girard (LHD) - Timmins (RHD)
Byram (LHD)
Can you see how moving Timmins creates a huge hole on the right side?</div></div>
Ya, that's true. However, they still have Erik Johnson for the next three years so he's missing on the right side and Liljigren could be in the trade instead of Dermott which could be a potential replacement for Timmins.
Graves-Makar
Girard-Johnson
Byram-Liljigren
It's still in the top five D-cores of the league and you add assets on top of it. I understand why the Avs would be hesitant to move him, but I just think Dubas melts at the thought of a play like Timmins, especially since he's from the Soo.

Johnsson is a dime a dozen player and we have no need for Dermott with Girard, Graves, Cole, Zadorov, and Byram already on LD. Johnsson can and will be better than most of the league thinks however I agree a lot of leafs nations have massively overvalued him. Would Avs consider if leafs retain a little and Dermott is replaced with Liljigren?
