Pretty sure Chicago would be on Campbell's 10 team no trade list. But if not, there's a deal to be made here. Hawks don't need Oil to retain, and they don't need Lavoie. And take out the 2024 3rd going back to Edmonton. So Campbell, the 2023 1st and 2024 2nd to the Hawks for future considerations or some minor asset and I think Hawks say yes.

I proposed CHI eating Campbell's contract as a cap dump recently and was told that EDM doesn't need to dump it because they can put him on LTIR or send him down.

That seemed like wishful thinking at the time. Anyway, this would definitely get it done. It's a big contract to eat for several years but CHI might struggle to hit the cap floor in the next year or two.

Best case scenario, Campbell improves in a no-pressure environment and recoups some value. Worst case, CHI just pays for a 1st and 2nd round pick.

Honestly just don't see the Oilers dumping Campbell anywhere. He's had a rough start but has been playing better as of late. With Skinner now signed for the next three years at 2.6 million, if you like your tandem, having them locked in for 7.6 million is not an issue. Especially not an issue to give up multiple high-end picks to get out of. Over the next few offseasons there is lots of buyout money coming off and other places where the oilers can shed salary.
