And if you need it GF is a ratio of the goals scored and goals against when a player is on the ice in 5 on 5 play.
I get your trying to defend the signing and the player but hes not good. Even the majority of EDM fans see it
They would much have anyone else play with Nurse than Ceci who is just an eyesore analytically and eye test wise.
Hes just a waste of 3.25m and they gonna lose Broberg as a result ouch
Like if Nurse being honest anyone but him would be his preference lul. And we saw it already playing with EDM big boyz can make stats look better than they should just check out Barrie in EDM vs. NSH. Ceci god hes already not great on a new team could be utter disaster.
Might be looking like hes good but how much is Nurse carrying is the real question lul.</div></div>
Using relative statistics against his own team makes no sense as an argument here... he has a 52% xGF in the last three season (2021-2024), which if you need, means he is expected to be on the ice for more goals than against which is really really good for a defencemen we all think is playing above his weight class ice time wise. In addition to just xGF% he is also above 50% in scoring chances for, high danger chances for, all while having sub 50% ozone starts and faceoffs. Also meaning that he starts more shift in the d-zone than any other zone on the ice and yet somehow is on the ice for more expected goals, scoring chances and high danger chances. That picture you posted screams, "I read something on the internet one time and it looked bad so it must be". Stick to something else maybe...

Hes being used as a top pair guy when he aint. Hes a third pair guy on the majority of competitive teams Pitt saw that and towards the end Toronto saw that.
And now EDM gonna potentially move Broberg to keep him ouch</div></div>
You're not reading... he has good analytics literally this season and last with Edmonton. No past analytics clouding anyone's judgement. The Oilers simply need an upgrade at RHD in general. They have two second pair guys and a 7th Dman playing on their right side. To think Ceci has negative value is just an unintelligent thought.

Ceci is not a negative asset by any means and if you think so your eye test isnt working because the analytics on this player are nice at 3.25 but as ive already said, the Oilers need an upgrade.

That is a great deal for a top 4 defender…which Ceci is not. He’s a 5/6 on a good team, one that isn’t worth paying assets for nor spending 3.25m on.
It’s not ignorance, it’s perspective. Ceci would be the 3rd best RHD on the Canes, and probably the 6 or 7 best overall defenseman.</div></div>
So it is ignorance because what you just explained is not replacement level and the Oilers need to move him because they need an upgrade. I never said I didn't think his contract wasn't of value but having him, Bouchard and Desharnais as the RHD they need an upgrade. If they could find a way to not move him and also add, theyd obviously like to do that but to get good players sometimes you have to give half decent ones up too.

Broberg sucks Quit proposing
Not to sure what games you've been watching of Broberg's but the only issue with the player is the organization. They plugged up the left side of the defence and the coaching staff/management refuse to play Oilers defenders on the opposite side. Has been happening since Tippett was the coach. Broberg in the minors (for a relatively bad Bakerfield team the last three years), has 0.7PPG and is a career +12. Hes been really good for them eating a ton of minutes but when he gets to the NHL and gets into a game plays sub 10 minutes every night. No player in the history of the NHL would look good given that opportunity.

Foegele isnt really a dump and the Oilers would prefer to keep him but in my opinion they should realocate some forward money to improve the D. As for Zboril, the Oilers dont need another LHD to burry behind Nurse-Ekholm-Kulak (if they choose to do this). That trade would make no sense from an oilers perspective. If they wont move Kulak to play Broberg, why would they do it for Zboril.

If the sky fell, and the Canes were out of a playoff spot by the TDL, they might trade Pesce but not for a replacement level defender with another year of term.</div></div>
Another good point. Pesce was just a buzz name that I liked when the rumours were out a few months back. This deal could really be with any team that is willing to move a top pair defender. I will disagree with you on calling Ceci a replacement level player. Thats just being ignorant. Ceci is a good second pair defender but he is being asked to play top pair and the Oilers need an upgrade.

Fair on the Detroit thing. Sorta forgot they had drafted Edvinsson. It was a really quick look from me to see a team that could use a half decent LHD. For the sharks that is mostly based on recent rumours about the Oilers being interested in Blackwood and the only way that occurs is the Sharks taking back Campbell. Also, when the Sharks are where they are at rebuild wise, they should absolutely be weaponizing money to get more assets so maybe it took more of a return but I think they don't really care about the cap hit or the money as long as the owner is ok paying it and they get a return. But fair point to bring up.

Ya and hes a cheap and controllable player for them unlike Pesce. Bourgault is likely the best prospect you're going to get for a guy that is pricing himself out of that poverty franchise. Never said it was an exact deal, but like I said, its not as far off as you think it is. And certainly not "multiple firsts" like the guy above thinks. This isnt the NBA where they throw around 1st like theyre candy at the draft.
And Carolina wont even pay their own D-man 7 million so on what planet does it get green lit to offer sheet a guy for one year at 7 million...

Friedman, Seravalli and all others have said very recently that Yamamoto, Ceci and Foegele have had multiple interested teams and that they have value around the league. McLeod is also a very underrated piece but I agree that either trade might not meet exact value but they aren't far off in my opinion

Scraps is a little of a harsh statement for a replacement top 4 dman and recent first round pick. I get that it might not be the exact value but that deal isnt that far off for a guy that the Hurricanes have publicly stated they likely wont sign.

For any team in the bottom half of the league that's a great gamble to take for a year or two. Could absolutely catapult your franchise forward if the guy finds some sort of health. And at only 3.4 million, there would definitely be enough budget to get a second goalie at like 4 million.

I would much rather move the 2024 1st, thats not even up for debate. 16th OA is guaranteed to be a pretty good pick.</div></div>
You absolutely can talk to your own player about how much money they might want on their next deal. Other teams cant talk to your players without permission but you can most definitely talk to your own players. Just can't actually sign the deal until July 1st of the year their contract is set to expire.

I'm an Oilers and Flyers fan. I like most of these deals but knowing the Oilers that one trade doesn't make much sense for them. If they trade Ceci they have to replace him for 3 mil or less. So they certainly arent attaching a 2nd or 3rd to him. Then with Foegele, hes similar but the Oilers can replace him with someone cheaper internally. Still don't see them attaching a 2nd or 3rd to him to move his contract. Both of those players have legit value and would likely net the Oilers a return and not the other way around.
