Description

Buffalo as been a surprising team this season and I think that for the first time in years they will be in the race for the playoffs, but will be out only at the last week of the season.
Tdh I don't think they should make drastic changes, only let thir young guys to keep gaining experience. However I think they should sign a defensive d-man to play alongside Power. That guy could be Mayfield.
However if a superstar like Kane (who grew up in Buffalo) wants to sign they should not hesitate since they have a lot of cap space, but this team need defense first.
I also think Lukkonen becomes their #1 goaltender before the season ends.

While this is a reasonable approach,
most Sabres fans have become impatient & would like to see us make a decent move or 2 at forward

Doesn't make much sense to do anything at forward to me, with Savoie, Rosen, Kulich and Ostlund all in the pipeline as well as guys like Biro, Murray, Weissbach and Rousek and an already set top6 moves at forward could hurt the sabres development and make it hard for buffalo to stay competitive for a long time...the needs are only at defense where we need a bottom pair LD (Ryan Johnson) and a 2RD which Mayfield would be the perfect fit.

Especially since we are making strides & looking to make the playoffs now- sooner than later
And after all the prospects we have had not develop into their full potential, it might make sense take some of that potential & turn it into players we already know can be contributors in the NHL

We do have a bunch of prospects right now,
and we don’t have room for all of them on the roster
So turning some of those assets into current help could make sense- IF- we acquire the right pieces

Maybe there’s a way to move forward NOW,
while still keeping the long term future plans in place
