Description
Per Friedman, the Sharks are looking to build their depth in goalie prospects either via trades or draft. I also know they're gonna want a decent package of a young player, a solid prospect, and a 1st round pick for Meier per Sheng Peng.

To summarize...
SJ Needs: Top goalie prospects, 1st round picks, cap space
Buffalo Needs: A winger who could score with Thompson and Cozens, experienced 1B goalie to play with Comrie

With this in mind, I actually think the Sabres would be the best fit for a Timo trade. Would this be a decent package that fits both Buffalo's and SJ's needs? I'll leave it to you.

Hard Pass - and after watching tonight's game Mittelstadt is even worse than I thought.

The first, probably top 10 protected (in case the wheels fall off) and mittelstadt would be a good basis. The prospect you want is more likely a forward prospect- savoie, kulich, ostlund, and Rosen are all very recent first round picks- my guess is the Sabres would be most open to ostlund or Rosen being the prospect. The Sabres seem to be leaning hard towards Levi being their goalie, I won't try to sell you on a different Sabres goalie, the others probably don't have Levi's ceiling. Comrie isn't our goalie really, right now upl is getting the majority of the work and 42 year old Craig Anderson comes in once a week and plays his ass off. And not that it matters, but if I'm paying a ton to go get a winger, to then give him a crazy expensive contract, he can play with cozens, who is more than capable of setting up his wingers. Thompson has his own thing with tuch and Skinner, I have to assume that if meier is worth this contract, he will be just fine playing with an almost point per game two way center (and probably Quinn or peterka).

Wouldn’t need to do “sign and trade” if done before deadline since acquiring team would be able to sign for max 8-years. If they sell him at draft…then the benefit of that 8th year makes sense for sign and trade since SJ would be only team allowed to do it.

The Sabres have 3 goalies on the roster, adding Reimer doesn't help

You aren’t trading a likely 40 goal scoring 26 yo for a goalie as the main piece unless that’s like Wallstedt or askarov.
