Description
Although I'm not a Flames fan, I am genuinely curious if Calgary did not sign the contracts and instead traded Huberdeau (winger) or Weegar (defenseman) at the deadline, what do you think they would get in terms of trade value right now?

Currently, Huberdeau has 33 points (10 goals and 23 assists) in 47 games with a +0 while Weegar has 15 points (1 goal and 14 assists) in 49 games with a +3 rating.

Any team. But hypothetically, considering the Devils are planning on adding a top 6 winger, what does Huberdeau give them?

Even if Huberdeau is having a bad year, with his 92 and 115 points seasons, he would have more value than Horvat. I'd say a 1st and a top prospect.

As for Weegar, he would be the most sought after defenseman. They could easily get what MTL got for Chiarot.

Honestly feel the same. Name recognition alone would get you a great haul for Huby. And Weegar would be one of the better deadline defenseman of late if that was an option.

If that's the case, then I'd say the Flames lose this trade in terms of their cap situation and contention window by being older.

Huberdeau would just give the Devils a cap problem. They could use the money far better on someone in their prime, not someone leaving it. It isn't to say he's bad, just not a good contract and few of those years will be remotely worth it.

True, but in this case, my post is referring to if Huberdeau did not sign his 8 year x 10.5 million contract with Calgary and if he was traded to Jersey as a rental for their top 6. Would he get a 1st round pick or a decent prospect back from the Devils?
