Description
This seems like what the package'll be, with either Bouchard or Broberg as the big piece, and I'm leading Bouchard for both sides. Oilers will want the guy with more cost-control, the Sharks will want a RHD with upside.

The rest of the trade isn't too complicated. The Sharks may retain more, I'm not exactly certain about the Oilers cap situation, but the Sharks are taking on both the Puljujärvi and Foegele contracts in this scenario, so 3.5 seems fair. The two 1sts are not something the Sharks budge on, those are non-starters. I also like Puljujärvi in this deal, I still think he's got a chance in the league, but it sure as hell won't be with the Oilers. Foegele is just there to make the cap work. Even if both Jesse and Foegele suck, the Sharks are getting a top 4 RHD and two firsts, one of which is in 2023, and the Oilers are getting Karlsson, who's been elite on a pretty terrible Sharks team. Just imagine what he'll be able to do as the QB to a powerplay with McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, and Kane. It's mouth-watering, and would probably guarantee him hitting 100 pts this year.

The money doesn't work still.

The Oilers want to move Puljujarvi to activate Yamamoto off LTIR, not sure how much cap the Oilers need to move. Both teams don't have cap space currently, so the Oilers need to get the Yamamoto thing sorted by themselves which is likely going to be by sending two players down, one being Puljujarvi. If SJ can move Meier first though, then they can take on cap for the Oilers.

Moving one of their cheapest roster players in Bouchard won't work. It's most likely going to have to be Barrie+Foegele or one of Barrie/Ceci+ one of Yamamoto/Foegele depending on how much SJ is trying to retain on Karlsson, but the end result needs to be equivalent to these to contracts or less.

No. EK dictates everything. The Sharks have no control over it except to say no altogether. Bouchard and two 1st picks is a very high price to pay for the cap hits of 2 players that will be gone after next season and Karlsson still at 8 mill. The cap only going up 1 mill next season is really gonna screw up players values I think
