Description
The back end needs seasoning and could use a veteran RD.

4 of Montreal’s top-6 can play centre so they can be moved throughout the lineup if necessary.

Not quite sure that Gallagher has much longer to go on this team and I am tearing up thinking about that. He’s dealt with so many injuries, so many games missed. He’s a small player and one that plays like him probably won’t have much success post-prime. He will likely also end up on LTIR for the remainder of his contract. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him there in 1-2 years.

    No.

Defense still sucks and Monty isn't good enough to get to the post season. Plus the forward core you have will still take time to develop and hopefully they reach their proper potential

It might be a playoff team.

I think of all our prospects including the "2023 hypothetical draftees", the idea that 4 of them will graduate to the NHL by 2025-26 (2.5 seasons) is a bit low.

I would argue that Dvorak, Savard, Evans, Allen, Anderson are all gone by then and replaced by our depth players, especially Mailloux & Roy.

Edit: The Habs division is the hardest in the league. Tampa & Boston "may" blow up by then, but they will most likely be replaced by Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit.

This is one of the biggest points I feel most posters overlook. A "quick retool" doesn't make us good enough to beat the beast teams in the Atlantic. We need to have a dynasty focus and try to win multiple cups from the 2025-2035 seasons (I know it's far away but that's the most realistic and best approach imo)

I do disagree that 4 prospects graduating to the NHL is a stretch though, 1-2 seasons maximum for a large number of them and they could be regulars in the lineup. Just enough time for the current vet contracts to expire and open space for them. If we draft top 4, maximum 1 season imo. Beck could easily slip into 3C next year if we needed, definitely the year after. I think Roy and Farrell are going to be potent and could flutter with a spot next year but the year after is more likely. Basically I think 2 seasons and most of the kids are in the lineup, playoffs is another story though. We're probably 3-4 seasons from being real threats, at our current projections.

Need a Goalie. I would offer sheet Filip Gustavsson $6.25M for 5 years. Minnesota will not be able to match.

    This will bring it closer.

could be put we would need a goalie and the defense is solid not sucks..... it is deepand has all of the components except for a hedman type... But you go your puck movers and hard hitters and you got lots of hockey sense and good size.. you got everything including depth as well, with many defe coming and especially lane hutson

But a goalie like levi with good stat in juniour and the ahl.... got to find one and give up some assets to get him
