Reasonable enough. I'll add a few thoughts:

If Hoffman can't be traded in the off-season, we might want to consider buying him out. Not because he can't bring back at least a late pick at the deadline, but because he'll take up a roster spot in the meantime and his propensity for bad turnovers while trying to do anything other than just shoot the puck, is an impediment to the team. Turn him into a development spot and audition more shooters for the PP.
Edmundson should also be moved at that time, but if not we'll be forced to keep and play him to give him value at the TDL. He needs to stay healthy and show well this season. While a 1st might not be possible, he should at least bring a 2nd in that case.

I'd like to see Richard with Anderson. Not possible with Richard returning to the Rocket, but perhaps something to look at in training camp.
See what Slafkovsky can do with Suzuki and Caufield. If not him, then Anderson/Gurianov. Would like to have Dach there, but unless someone steps up as a 2C, he's it by default.
Make Dvorak our primary defensive guy.
Bump Evans to the wing. Make a sheltered development line (exploitation line). Gallagher could use some lighter duty so put him there for veteran presence and trial some young combinations (Beck - Roy for example).

If Edmundson is staying for next season, we may need to move Matheson. Should be easy in the off-season.

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Gurianov - Richard - Anderson
Roy - Beck - Gallagher
Evans - Dvorak - Ylonen

Is what I would like to see during camp before making any final decisions.

like everthing until you said move Matheson.. do you watch the games. The best puck mover and speed from defense on the whi\ole tean\m and all prospects as well and he is a hughes client who loves montreal...he is going no where... edmundson goes at the draft most likely and savard at the deadline of 2024-25 but matheson stays like letang did like chara did like Giordano did .. all the good teams always have one older defensman who plays calm when the chips are flying.. non negotiable... I would bet serious money on it. I think we need anderson speed and size as well so i would trade him.... Did you know that picks later than 20 overall onlt have a 1 in ten chance of become a top 4 defenseman or top six forward or starting goalie.... There is like one each draft.... that is a crapshoot and not worth trasding for... Remember Mccarron, Schrebrek, Juulson etc ... late picks who amounted to nothing.... it is that way for every team though not just montreal....one player a year typically

I said we may need to move Matheson because we will have 5 LHD if we don't move Edmundson.
Development is the priority and we need to ensure other players are getting sufficient minutes.
His value may also be at a high and/or enable us to pick up a RHD.
If he were a couple years younger and had a couple years more term, absolutely keep him and move one of the younger guys instead. As it stands we aren't in a position to capitalize on his performance before his contract expires.

If he plays the other side as a stop-gap measure, that's a little better but again a temporary measure we aren't in position to take advantage of. There is at least the benefit of giving us 3 years to fully develop our left side and work on an eventually replacement in that scenario.
On the left either him or Edmundson has to go. Combined they simply take too many minutes.

All ture but of course you just trade edmundson instead.... and i mnot that worried about Rd as many players are comfortable on that side like Harris... i think Barron will be good and I do like Savard if mailloux doesnt develop then you can re-sign savard for 2 more seasons... So we shouldnt do a knee jerk trade and move matheson,,,, he could be better than all the prospects coming... Also Lane hutson plays the right side as well.

Matheson Barron
Guhle Savard
Xjerex Harris
Should be the pairs next year.

However next year is the year of the rookies forward and drafting a good goalie of the future.
