Additional Details:
Jets need to rebuild. Lots of key players with 1-2 years left on their contracts and the team isn't anywhere near a cup. Add to an already decent prospect pool and start from scratch

It really doesn't. The main changes needed are goaltending and improving defensively. Swapping Dumoulin for Dillon is massive and gives them a solid top 4 and Varlamov has been a consistently good goalie for a few years now.

The top 6 has carried this team to a playoff spot this year DESPITE all the problems. Imagine what they can do if at least 2 of the problems are taken care of.

Jets take that we need to get some young assets and picks to build towards a better core into the future

The whole D is an issue, it isn't just Dumo. The D lacks speed and mobility, which isn't something that Dillon brings. Mike Sullivan's system also constantly has the D activate, which also wouldn't be one of Dillon's strong suits. Given how bad our defense is and how bad the breakdowns are on every level, it will take a lot more than replacing Dumo. I like what you did with goaltending, but the forward core needs big change too. Granlund has been very bad since coming to town, Heinen has been cold all season, and overall it is just old and lacks speed, physicality, and youth. The bottom 6 has struggled so much too with goal scoring and needs significant overhaul as well. The whole roster has just gotten stale. We need a major infusion of younger players that will give this team an identity. The team has so many problems right now, a different problem every game to be honest. There's not really anything they are good at consistently. That calls for massive change imo. I understand where your coming from, but just can't imagine us making the playoffs with only small changes and everyone being a year older.

Sully needs to go. He can walk out with Hextall.
