Description

At 3 OA in 2023 Draft we take Michkov. Just simply a better player than Carlsson. We are on a self proclaimed 5 year rebuild anyway. Who cares if he's not available til 2025.

Tampa's first turns into Gabe Perrault (stock result from Tankathon).

Tank for Celebrini. Probably not in the Bedard category, but the dude broke Fantilli's points mark in 8 less games.

After the drafting Celebrini, sign a guy to kickstart the contention window. I can't imagine Toronto is going to be keen on letting Matthews go, and Carolina has the cap structure to keep Aho, so I targeted Nylander instead.

I really liked what I saw from Stauber in the few games he was in net for us. Think he could be a diamond in the rough that we stumbled upon, and has a good a shot as any of them to win the job.

This isn't really a projected team, moreso just where I expect our depth charts to be at coming out of the 2024 draft. Not sure if it will be Nylander, but I expect Davidson to take a run at someone. Can't just have a bunch of 23 year olds running around there and expect to be competitive.

Yeah. Celebrini (2024) and Misa (2025) are both legit targets and are probably worth tanking for, especially if we don't get Bedard.

Yeah, I also like Hagens in 2025. I tend to not buy stock into anyone over a year out though. Really liked Lambert's profile for 2022 the couple years before, and then just slowly kept slipping starting his D-1 year.

But generally, when players are playing this well and are this highly thought of this far out from their draft year, there is probably something special about them. If you watch Celebrini and Misa, if they were to be drafted this year, they would more than likely be in the top 10, maybe even top 5. There are a lot of players already on my watch list for the next couple drafts, though, and some are truly special. i.e. Celebrini, Misa, Howe, Kiviharju, Eiserman, Hagens, Catton, Demidov, Dickinson, Helenius, Sennecke, etc. There is supposedly a lot of good defenseman in those drafts too, but projecting defense of such young players is difficult for me. There's a lot to be excited about, especially for a team that has at least two 1st round picks in each of the next three drafts.
