Description
My general thoughts on who we have and their future with the team.
Who should move, who should stay, and who's available for further moves in the right direction.

Trades
1.
MTL
Not part of the long term plans. Get what you can in trade, use that to get rid of who you can't trade. Buy out/bury the rest.
    PHI
    1. Allen, Jake ($1,825,000 retained)
    2. Armia, Joel
    3. Edmundson, Joel ($1,750,000 retained)
    4. Hoffman, Mike ($2,250,000 retained)
    5. Montembeault, Samuel
    6. Pitlick, Rem
    7. Wideman, Chris
    2.
    MTL
Not being traded under "almost" any circumstances for the foreseeable future.
      3.
      MTL
Practically untradeable due to contract greatly exceeding value in dollars and term.
Candidates for a cap dump scenario at a later date, but only once their cap hits begin to impede progress.
        4.
        MTL
Available in trade only if the offer exceeds their value to the team.
Anderson is big on the ice and in the locker room.
Matheson has become a key contributor and leader.
Savard is a stabilizing force on a young and inexperienced D-corps.
These players are important for our development and will smooth the transition for our younger players while our core gains experience.
          5.
          MTL
Remaining players shown on the roster are in relative order of NHL impact/readiness.
They will be battling for positions beginning next season or in the near future (along with any standouts not mentioned here who may take a leap and steal a spot.)
            PHI
            6.
            MTL
            1. Hart, Carter
            Additional Details:
I'm including a Hart trade because acquiring a goaltender should be on our radar unless/until we've found a successor to Montembeault.
I do not personally have confidence in his long term viability as a starter on a contender. I would be happy to be wrong.
            PHI
            1. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
            Additional Details:
We could perhaps include Primeau and/or an additional pick, but I'm not trading any of our current 1sts for a goaltender.

ALTERNATIVE: We use our 2nd to draft a goaltender (Hrabal)

I think HuGo sees Monty as part of the future of the team whether they believe he is the starter in 2 years or a 1a/1b option.

I wouldn't mind him as a backup, but we do have to decide on Primeau and whether we are going to give him a chance here or let him go elsewhere.
I'm okay giving Montembeault another year with Primeau as backup if we can move Allen, but imo it's a waste to run with the same duo again.
We know Allen isn't here long term regardless and Montembeault is a pending UFA, so it's time to prepare.

The thing with Monty is the team plays differently with him in net then they do with Allen or Primeau, kind of like they did with Price vs others

Most teams do. Goaltenders have to earn trust of their teammates. Primeau hasn't had the chance to do that and Allen has lost it giving up early goals regularly.

Philly isn't trading Hart for a 2nd. They have no reason to trade him if they don't get a good offer.
