Moving Up Draft Options

Catton could fall that far but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. One of Catton, Helenius or Eiserman will be available at that pick inevitably.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tstrauss16</b></div><div>That’s fair. Not sure what Philly needs but feel like they can still get a substantial prospect at 16.</div></div>
Their biggest need is by far a 1C. Even if all the good center prospects are gone they will probably just go BPA since there will still be a good prospects available at that pick.

Flyers aren't trading back. They need quality for their picks, not quantity.

I would say Chychrun is a bit too much on the older side for Flyers to consider him. Players that are 24 or under would be their optimal targets.

I knew that he didn't want to go to Arizona or Washingon, but I have no idea about other teams.

Kinda, but not really. The contract situation was the biggest reason why he fell to 7. If he could've come into the the NHL straight away he would've probably gone in the top 3.

There hasn't been any indication so far that he will be able to get out of it prematurely. It would be awesome if he could get out of it, but I will expect him to come over for the 26-27 season, unless the situation changes.

Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Very true, but its not a foregone conclusion that NJD/PIT/WAS/DET/OTT/etc... sort it out and surpass them next yr. They lack high end talent, but foertser, brink, frost, cates, farabee, york, drysdale, errsson, etc, didnt have HUGE years.... could get better. And andrae, tuomaala, barkey, etc... could contribute.
Ultimately the Flyers were 3rd in Metro all yr long even with Hart/Gautheir dramas and injuries, so its a leap to think that those other teams develop/cure their ills and PHI doesn;t.
Besides signing a Stephenson/Dumba at 29 yrs old for less than 5mil and still have 5-8mil in cap space and alot of extra high picks in the next few drafts (as well as expiring cap cows in Petersen/Atkinson) allows some creativity. Maybe PHI doesn;t address 1C this yr, but waits out for Draisatl or another big option.</div></div>
Sure, it's not guaranteed that those teams all improve, but if I had to put a bet on it, I would. Also they didn't have any significant injuries to their important players for most of the season untill late January where Tippett missed a bit over 2 weeks and when Konecny missed almost 2 weeks in february/march.
The likelyhood of Flyers getting Draisaitl or anyone 1C caliber through FA is low and there is 0 guarantee that they will even become a UFA's, so putting your hope in solving the 1C that way is foolish. Draisaitl also wouldn't solve the issue long-term since by then he will be 30 and soon 31 after the season starts. In a few years later you will be back in a situation where you don't have a proper 1C anymore.
Also will they have enough cap space to even make it happen? By the time Draisaitl would become a UFA they have to pay TK, York, Foerster and Frost. Then a year later they would have to pay Drysdale and Ersson. It's just not a solid enough plan to rely on.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Mostly true, but Phily (who lost 2 of their top 4 dmen and their starting goalie) still came within a pt or 2 of the playoffs themselves with largely a team of young guys. While they lack a 1C or a Crosby/Makar in the immediate future, they have a deep pool of young/young-ish guys so counting on NJ or DET or BUF surpassing them isn;t a forgone conclusion.
Adding a good second tier center or defender who has 2-5 good years left is both within their cap and their rebuild.</div></div>
They have a good amount of young players but they still lack the high end potential which is the issue. They probably aren't making the playoffs in this conference next year, so it's better to just try to get a high pick to get those high potential players, since Michkov probably won't be here for 2 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Still think even after those moves, that they use that cap space. Chandler Stephenson at 2C/Couturier at 3C/Poehling at 4C or a solid vet defenseman at 4ish mil to pair with a kid like OEL, Dumba, etc... (or both)
Sanheim-Drysdale
OEL-York
Zamula-Risto

They'll buyout one of Atkinson or Petersen, but doubt they have one in minors, so my money is on Petersen buyout and trade Atkinson at 50% for a late round pick, which leaves closer to 13-14mil in cap space</div></div>
This is the opposite what they should be doing IMO. Currently they have no solution to getting a 1C and they are going to be in an extremely competitive conference with NJ, Buffalo and Red Wings all being teams that missed and will be looking to get into the playoffs.

I doubt that Michkov comes any sooner than the 26-27 season. Atleast I wouldn't expect it. You could also get these russians for a lot cheaper than this.

We have to cap space to give him that, but at this point you might as well let him go back to russia and get somebody else.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goose1227</b></div><div>I wasn’t too sure. I can’t get a read on TK’s worth. I’ve always liked him, so I’m probably little biased. Appreciate the way he plays, very scrappy player, fearless. I’m also unsure on how much Flyers value him. Do they offer him an extension or say thank you and move on to younger players. I mean he’s only 27, but for Flyers that’s probably a bit on the “older” side.</div></div>
I have seen some rumors that Flyers front office would already have a extension ready to be signed on july 1st, but so far they have been just rumors. Personally I would prefer to trade him rather than extend him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>If TK had term, yes, there's a deal here somewhere. But he's a rental. He'd need to come with a reasonable extension. Either that, or start somewhere else. Also, if Rod hates him as a center, Torts may kill him</div></div>
I don't know what your idea of a reasonable extension is in this case, but if you can't get that, then where else would you start? Also even if Torts would end up hating Necas at center then they could just move him back to the wing. They would still have a guy with similar production to Konecny and who is a bit younger.
