Michkov has some big time Russian drama around him. Probably should punt on him. His dad situation was terrible but leaves a ton of questions imo

I wouldn’t want to give up more than this years second (aka pick 40ish) and maybe another mid pick. Let’s assume arizona gets 4th overall. You’re taking whoever is left between Carlsson, Michkov, and Fantilli. Really you’re getting Michkov, who is a stud, but the KHL stuff and his contract makes him a non-factor until 2026. Better off to just make the pick at 8. Pray we win the lottery. Draft Dvorsky at 8.

I’ve never understood why Michkov’s KHL contract is such a big thing. Does it really matter if Michkov stays in Russia if you are getting a potential superstar? He isn’t ready yet, but when he comes over he could make an immediate impact. It usually take 2-5 years for a prospect anyway.
