if the pens feels they cant find buyers, they will just keep him, they wont pay to move him if there is no interest, the pens would.say no to that deal.

for.the ottawa trade i think they will try to get players back instead of picks. value could be close-ish but thats not the offer ottawa would go for.

Completely agree on both. Ottawa isn't getting roster players back unless they are older players or the sum of the players coming back is greater but lower quality players than Debrincat. In the scenario I am proposing, Detroit likely gets the better and more expensive player while Ottawa gets a similar but not as good player along with 2 picks that are very good. Detroit can fit Cat into the salary structure, and to come home, he might take a discount to the tune of 7x7. The only issue is toughness, which Debrincat doesn't bring.

As for the Petry move, Pens fans throw him in on every post. If they want to move the salary, as in they are not ready to throw in the towel, they will pay a hefty price. Petry has a 15 team NTC, and I'd be shocked if SJ, ARZ, CHI, ANA, etc were one of those teams. Detroit could use Petry for 2 years, or sign Severson to a 4 year 5 million deal. Then the Pens are stuck with Petry or giving up the same assets to retain salary to another team at the TDL. The Pens had great seasons from the core players. They still didn't get in...rebuild. they won't though.

That is fine. Just know that the rebuild is upon your team, and that is ok. I wouldn't give assets up to fight for a wildcard either. But lots of posts on CF suggest Petry has trade value (with no 15 team NTC he probably does) but he is actually going to cost assets. Next year will be another year, except Crosby and Malkin won't stay as healthy and won't be as productive. Even if they are, the support wasn't there this year, where is it next year?

Blah blah blah we aren’t trading a first to move Petry. Understand that.
