Description
The Bruins are about to lose Bertuzzi as a cap casualty. I think they would be wise to instead trade Taylor Hall for draft picks and sign Bertuzzi for a similar contract. Reasoning:

1) Bertuzzi is at least as good as Hall.

2) I think Bertuzzi can be signed longer term in order to reduce the cap hit. Some comparable contracts might be Hyman and RNH.

3) If Boston does nothing, they keep Hall, lose Bertuzzi, and gain no assets. If they offload Hall and sign Bertuzzi, you can basically view it as trading Hall for Bertuzzi *plus* whatever extra assets are acquired in the Hall deal.

Curious what you guys think Hall could fetch in a trade. I'm guessing something like a 2nd round pick.

Anaheim is a placeholder, replace them with any team that you think is a fit for Hall. What's the value coming back to Boston, assuming it's pure draft picks?

It was reported out of Detroit that Bertuzzi wanted 7 x $7,000,000 giving him more term but only a $500,000 raise isn't going to work.

Obviously the biggest hurdle in trading Hall is he has a full NMC, so he has control over where ( and if) he goes. Then there's only a limited number of teams that can absorb his $6m cap hit without sending cap back to Boston. Trading Hall is going to be problematic for Sweeney. He's got very little leverage as I see it

For this purpose just assume he'll accept Hall's cap hit of $6m or less. I'm mostly curious what Hall would bring back.

He has a 10 team no-trade list, not a full NMC

Bertuzzi might accept 7 x $6,000,000 but i doubt he'd take anything less though.
