Colorado is in the same conference as Vancouver. Colorado has an even tougher cap situation than the Rangers. Miller might be a bit better, but Byram makes more sense. Unless the Rangers have multiple teams offer sheeting several players, New York should have few issues working trades to make the cap work.

The St Louis trade is an overpay by Vancouver. Buchnevich only has 2 years left on his deal, and realistically, even with Bedard, the Canucks are not cup contenders until the D gets sorted out.

Toronto is not likely trading Marner, and if they are, this package is not close.

Byram's injury history is the biggest concern. If we are going to make an aggressive move like that it would be worth it to target the guy without an injury history I think.

Although I agree Marner is worth more (more quality less quantity, eg top pick and prospect), if Toronto loses Rd2 and their 'core 4' drastically underproduce, Nylander and Marner will be 1 and 2, respectively, shopped around.

Annnnddd I'll add that Matthews contract negotiations become realllly difficult. Personally, I would trade him, but hey...
