Description
Seems the Flyers are looking to dump long-term dead cap for a bad LTIR contract, 2 years of Petersen would make that much cheaper for them business-wise. If Ellis looks to LTI-Retire, I think this is a move the Kings would try to pursue. Before you go ahead and say, the Flyers would never do this? $11M owed to Petersen, $24M owed to Ellis. Aside from cap implications, this would be a business move. Kings get their capspace back by paying $13M of Ellis's contract.

Blake will have to explain that taking on nearly $13M is worthwhile as it helps their competitive window.

I mean $13M in savings is less up to the GM and more up to the owner, and the Flyers were rumored to be looking for a shorter term contract to eat the price of Ellis' contract.

I'd have to imagine his salary is insured. From a cap standpoint, they're losing 10M.

Why would the Flyers move Ellis' LTIR money for a cap dump that can't be LTIR'd?
